MDC
Markdown Checklists — task state that is valid Markdown, for humans and AI agents.
Just Markdown
Every document is valid GitHub-Flavored Markdown — ordinary checkboxes on GitHub, GitLab, VS Code, and Obsidian, with zero tooling.
Machine-readable
Opt-in metadata adds states, typed dependencies, gating, and reusable templates; a reference parser emits a stable JSON model.
Deterministic edits
A canonical form makes every change a one-line diff, so humans and agents edit the same checklist and merge cleanly under plain git.
Proven twice
Two independent implementations pass one portable conformance corpus; an MCP server drives MDC from any host.
Quickstart
Section titled “Quickstart”---mdc: "0.1"---- [x] Cut the release branch {#branch done=2026-09-15}- [ ] Run the test suite {#tests needs=branch}- [ ] Publish the package {#publish needs=tests}Paste it into any GitHub gist — it renders as a checklist. Feed it to the mdc CLI (or the MCP server) and it is a queryable, mutable task graph: mdc next, mdc claim, mdc check.
